Which Weight Loss Supplements Actually Help You Lose Weight?

Before you buy weight loss supplements, you might want to learn what works, what doesn’t and why. Your health should be your primary concern. Of course, being overweight it not the healthiest state to be in, but it is not the only consideration.

First of all, your scale may be lying to you. Your ultimate goal should be to have a low percentage of body fat, a high percentage of lean muscle mass. Even though ephedrine has been banned by the US FDA due to health and safety concerns, it is a genus of plants. So, there is no way to completely prevent companies from selling it.

Other weight loss supplements that claim to increase metabolism include green tea extracts, cinnamon and caffeine. Of those, green tea extracts are the only ones that have some limited evidence of effectiveness. Generally speaking, green tea is good for your health, but it probably won’t help you lose weight.

If you read the fine print, you will see that all of these “pills” come in a bottle bearing a label that reads something like this. To achieve the best results, this supplement should be combined with a healthy diet and exercise plan. Consult your doctor.

Most people don’t consult their doctors before taking weight loss supplements; because they assume that the supplement is safe. That is not always the case. Do you know what your blood pressure is? How’s your heart? Do you have a thyroid condition? Those are just some of the health problems that can be aggravated by stimulants like caffeine, even those that are naturally occurring.

Losing a few pounds is easy. Keeping them off is hard, unless you take the right steps. Weight loss supplements might be beneficial, but a complete plan will be more beneficial and can help you change your body, for life.
